Bouncy Castle Flies Away In The Wind With Three Kids Inside
SOUTH GLENS FALLS – Two young boys were injured after a “bouncy house” was swept away by a gust of wind Monday afternoon. Three children were inside the play structure when the wind lifted the inflatable toy 50 feet into the air. The three kids, ages 5, 6, and 10, fell out of the toy. The two boys were seriously injured. The girl suffered minor scrapes and bruises Parents say one boy landed on a parked car, the other landed on asphalt. Glens Falls Police are not releasing the victim’s names or conditions but say the one boy who landed on pavement was conscious and talking at the scene. The incident happened around 3:30 p.m. in front of a townhouse on Ferry Boulevard. Parents say the “bouncy house” floated over a stretch of woods and landed in the fields behind Oliver W. Winch Middle School. A witness snapped a picture of the toy in mid-air. People who saw the incident say the boys fell out when the structure was about 15 feet off the ground. Police say the 10’ x 10’ toy was secured to the ground with spikes but the wind lifted it anyway.
I’ll be honest I was skeptical at first. This story and that absurd picture had a very “Falcon the Balloon Boy” type of feel to it. It all sounded completely fake and ridiculous that the wind whisked away a bouncy castle with 3 kids inside. But then you hear that the children were falling from the sky and landing on parked cars and are seriously injured and I guess you have no choice but to believe it. Just a completely preposterous turn of events for these three kids.
And now I’m sure bouncy castles and anything else in the world inflatable will be permanently banned from existence. Don’t get me wrong it sucks these three kids were airmailed out of their bounce house but it sucks even more for the rest of the population who will never get to jump in them again.
PS – That original Balloon Boy blog that I linked to was one of the funnest moments ever in the early days of Barstool New York. Even though it ended up being a hoax, watching the live feed of that balloon FLYING through the air with over 400 comments of people just going berserk thinking that kid was dead was so much fun
